ABOUT DR. FARHAN CHAK

Welcome! I’m Dr. Farhan M. Chak, a dedicated educator, scholar, author, and leadership consultant with over 15 years of experience in higher education, international relations, and strategic policy development. Passionate about fostering critical thinking, inclusive leadership, and global engagement, I have had the privilege of teaching and mentoring students across various institutions worldwide.

With a PhD from Durham University and expertise in International Relations, Strategic & Security Studies, and Leadership Studies, I have developed and implemented innovative curricula that empower students to think critically and engage meaningfully with the world around them. Throughout my career, I have received multiple teaching excellence awards and have been a keynote speaker at prominent conferences, including TEDx.

Beyond academia, I have contributed to policy research, international diplomacy, and strategic consulting. My work has involved collaborations with think tanks, government agencies, and global institutions, addressing key issues such as conflict resolution, governance, and social justice. As a thought leader, I have authored books and research publications that explore the intersections of geopolitics, identity, and security.

At the moment, I serve as the Secretary-General of the Canadian-based NGO Kashmir Civitas. I am also a Sessional Instructor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Alberta and MacEwan University, as well as an Associate Professor of Political Science and International Affairs working as a Visiting Research Fellow at the Alwaleed Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding, in the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, Washington D.C. My experience includes working at the United Nations, the Canadian Parliament, TRT World, and Qatar University. My research interests encompass Islam and Politics, Political Theory, Secularism, Peace & Conflict Studies, Post-Colonialism, Epistemology, and Leadership. Additionally, I contribute regularly as an opinion writer for Al Jazeera, Middle East Eye, Daily Sabah, and TRT World.

I have authored two books: Islam and Pakistan’s Political Culture, published by Routledge in October 2015, and Nuclear Flashpoint: The War Over Kashmir, published by Pluto Press in 2024.

I am committed to inspiring the next generation of leaders, fostering cross-cultural dialogue, and driving positive change through education and policy. Whether in the classroom, on stage, or in advisory roles, my goal remains the same: to empower individuals and institutions to navigate an increasingly complex world with wisdom and integrity.
